Description

In August of 1988, a few newcomers of Ethiopian evangelical believers decided to meet up for bible study and fellowship in a one-bedroom apartment unit. In the next few years, these people continued to meet in the basement of Faith Temple Church and New Life Ministries. In 1994 more space was needed to conduct regular church services as the numbers had grown and the church was offered a place at Calvary temple. Having been appointed a head pastor in 1995, the Church became among Canada's earliest Ethiopian Evangelical Churches to have a pastor. From November 1995 until he moved on to another ministry in 2001, Brother Tesfa Beyene Chutta pastored the church by the grace he was given. In the same year, LGC bought one of its current worship places and appointed Brother Melkie Mebrat and Brother Daniel Hunkiye as Senior and associate pastors respectively.

Currently over 250 People call LGC home. The church serves the community in Winnipeg through both Amharic and English services.
